Vision and prospects

The Hellenic Congress of America is a Greek-American, non-profit organization founded in 2016 in New York and operating on a Pan-American level in the United States. “Members of the Hellenic Congress of America are individuals and organizations from various regions of the United States, inspired by its mission and implementing its fundamental principles”.

The Hellenic Congress stands united for Hellenism! Now is the time for individuals and organizations to join forces, in the spirit of developing a more productive and positive environment, to overcome the tremendous challenges we are facing and maximize the opportunities for the advancement of Hellenism in America and worldwide!

The Hellenic Congress of America serves with dedication. It cultivates and promotes the most important ideals of the citizen, patriotism, democratic moral values, scientific excellence and personal and collective responsibility.

Declaration of principals

1. The pursuit of the Hellenic Congress of America is to effectively unite Hellenes and Philhellenes in America for a Common Cause so all voices are heard when circumstances may arise.

2. A primary consideration of the Hellenic Congress is the preservation and diffusion of our Greek language, our Greek-orthodox traditions and our immortal Greek cultural heritage.

3. Hence, the Hellenic Congress fosters the initiative to support the establishment of new charter schools to promote and perpetuate the Hellenic Education in America, in collaboration with other Greek American organizations which share the same objective and also have know how in this field.

4. We encourage, support and embrace skilled Hellenes and Philhellenes who seek to communicate and hold a position in the public life at all levels.

5. It participates actively in the demand for and develops coordinated activity in the struggle for the postal vote of Greeks Living Abroad from their place of residence.

6. The Hellenic Congress of America promotes the organization of an annual celebration in honor of our national independence on 25th March 1821, wherever there are Greek communities and in collaboration with the organizations of the Diaspora and local municipal authorities.

7. The Hellenic Congress participates in the collective effort to form a unified Strategy for Greeks Living Abroad, for the optimal use of their intellectual, scientific and business contribution, both locally and in global processes.

8. A priority of our organization is to actively support Greece and Cyprus to stand in solidarity with their national inalienable rights, to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

9. We recommend and nurture the initiative of a National Day of Ecumenical Hellenism, to honor the Hellenes living abroad and to strengthen their cultural ties with Greece and Cyprus.

10. It plays a central role and cooperates with the organizations of the Diaspora outside the USA for the creation of an international Movement for the Leadership of the Diaspora aiming at its global representation (Panhellenic World Congress).
